Have you ever asked yourself, why do I keep messing up on _________? You fill in the blank. Or you tell yourself “I try so hard and am such a hard worker, but why do I feel like I’m always being overlooked?” Or, have you at times felt uncomfortable in your own skin? Well ladies, I’m here to tell you that you are NOT alone.
For years, I had battled these self-destructing thoughts, wondering if I would ever hit the mark. Wondering if I would ever measure up to what a boss, my friends, co-workers, family, and even my husband, expected of me. I was so used to outwardly giving a certain persona of myself to everyone, that deep inside, I had battled with thoughts of doubt and insecurities about my personality, my weaknesses, and how others perceived me.
Smiling on the outside, but inside you’re crying and beating yourself up.
Have you been there in your mind?
Even as a believer, with a close relationship with the Lord, I still and sometimes now battle these self-destructive thoughts. If not harnessed, God revealed to me that this can lead to physical self-destruction.
Through personal life experiences and various circumstances, God constantly reminds me of how much He loves me. I’m hear to tell you from the pit of my heart that He loves you too sister!
God reminds me of this in His Word when He says in Psalms 34:17-18…..
The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them. He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Despite how we feel or what we see in the natural, remember that God hears your hearts cry. You are NOT alone in the personal struggles God is delivering you from.
If it’s comparing yourself to other women. Stop it! I’ve been there. If it’s worrying about what people think. Stop it! I’ve definitely been there. Or maybe you struggle with not feeling comfortable in your own skin at times and you absolutely hate that feeling. Stop it! I’ve been there and still at times am there.
God loves you and created you special. What you’re going through or experiencing right now is NOT permanent. You are just where God wants you to be!
Believe that despite your weaknesses or flaws, that God’s mercy is new EVERY morning and great is His faithfulness. He says in His word in Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)….
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassion’s fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
“How do I become delivered from my self-destructive thoughts?” you may be asking yourself. I’m excited to share 5 simple steps of how God has guided me through my process of deliverance from things like fear, lust, worry, jealousy, selfishness, and the list can go on and on.
5 Steps to Begin Walking in Your Deliverance
- Take time out of your day to worship God and reflect on His Word. It can be a scripture or multiple scriptures. The key: Start somewhere!
- Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you and journal what’s on your heart. If you’re like me, journaling can be therapeutic.
- Thank God by speaking and praying the Word. It may seem akward at first, but the goal is to get into His presence and to embrace His love.
- Seek an accountability partner or someone who you trust that can help you stay accountable in these areas. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to the RIGHT person.
- Lastly, speak, speak, speak the Word over your situation and thank God daily that your deliverance has already come to pass. Hebrews 11:1
My prayer is that you will open your heart to what God is saying to you and that you will love yourself. Just like God has been changing me from the inside out, He can change you too sister!
Embrace His love and get excited about a year of growth!
